Violence Prevention Service Hires Program Manager For Central Florida Operations

Rick MorrisEvidence-Based Associates (EBA), a national firm that works with communities to identify and implement evidence-based programs for at-risk youth, has hired Rick Morris as a project manager for its Central Florida programs. Morris is a licensed mental health counselor and specializes in treatment of juvenile sex offenders.

As project manager, Morris will work with EBA's Central Florida Redirection project, which was established by the state of Florida's Legislature and Department of Juvenile Justice to demonstrate the effectiveness of community services versus long-term residential commitment for Florida's at-risk youth. He will be responsible for promoting the Redirection project, contract management and renewal, training, ongoing quality assurance, evaluation, budget management and government relations.

Morris joins EBA from the community outpatient mental health field where he managed programs committed to treating children and teens with sexually abusive behaviors within their family and community setting.

Morris received a master's degree in community counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University. He has written and published "Protecting and Parenting Sexually Abused Children," a book for parents and caregivers of children who have been sexually abused. In addition, he has provided training for community agencies to assist in protecting children from further sexual abuse..

Evidence-Based Associates represents a "family" of evidence-based practices that demonstrate positive results for violence prevention and treatment of at-risk children, adolescents and their families. EBA exists to help communities and policy makers select model violence prevention programs that reduce violence, drug use and cultivate positive citizenship within communities.
